Make A Difference Reminder
19th Sep

A few weeks ago during an office employee meeting, Sharon Winton, Executive Assistant shared the following story:

The quote “Making A Difference” really resonated with me a couple of weeks ago, so much I couldn’t wait to share my experience with my FP family during our Monthly Corporate Meeting.  It was one of those “Paying Forward” ideas for me.

It was on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and I decided to visit The Dollar Tree.  Just in case you are not familiar with The Dollar Tree, the name speaks for itself. As I stood in line to check out there were 2 people in line in front of me preparing to checkout. The first lady had her 2 kids with her and behind her stood an elderly lady and; then myself. The lady with the 2 kids looked at the lady behind her and said Ma’am I want to pay for your items.  The elderly lady responded no, you don’t have to do that, now grant it she only had about $5 worth of items, however the lady with the 2 kids very kindly insisted. With a pleasant smile on her face the elderly lady replied “Thank You” so much.  Not only did she pay for her items; but she also walked away allowing the lady to have the change that was left from her purchases. She looked at me and said, wow I wasn’t expecting that.  My immediate thought was That Was Awesome!  I need to “Pay Forward” and I WILL.  Also, the simple act of kindness the mother displayed in front of her children was great for them to see.

Making a Difference can be a pleasant smile, reaching for an item off the shelf for someone in a wheelchair at the grocery store or a simple “Good Morning” to your coworkers could cause someone to reciprocate. I have noticed in a number of instances the energy you put out will typically be the energy you receive back. Remember too J  it can “Make A Difference.”

As I listened to this story it made me think of the little or no cost things we can do to make someone’s day. I read a lot of inspirational quotes on Facebook and I am wondering if FP employees have quotes or sayings that lift them up that they would like to share. If you have any of those you would like to send me at [email protected] I will be posting those as my October blog. Please have to me by October 10th. Here are some of my favorites:

“Just remember there is someone out there that is more than happy with less than what you have.” – Unknown

“Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.” – Joshua J. Marine

“In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.” – Bill Cosby
