Heavy Traffic
18th Jun

Have you ever been sitting in traffic and looked in your rearview mirror to see a car fast approaching in the median or on the shoulder? What was your first reaction? Was it to pull over and block them, after all, who do they think they are? Did it cross your mind that there might be a good reason they need to get through the traffic? Most of us probably think there is no reason to be driving this way, but try and think twice before a little road rage sits in.

A man was driving to work at a local hospital when got stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic. All he could think about was how late he was going to be and how much this was going to put him behind for the day. As he became more frustrated, he saw a car approaching him on the left side passing the cars. The man shifted his frustration to this driver thinking, “Why does this person think they are so special that they can pass me?” After all, the man was a hospital vice president and needed to get to work. He was important and his time was important. He considered pulling his car over so the car couldn’t pass, but resisted the urge. Instead, he looked angrily at the driver and blew his horn. The hospital VP arrived late to work a small rural hospital and saw the same car which passed him so rudely. As he walked in, he noticed the same man sobbing in a chair. When the VP asked the nursing staff what was going on, he was informed that while man had been taking his daughter to school that morning, she had a seizure and stopped breathing. He had rushed her to the hospital as fast as he could, and at this time, she was still unresponsive.
