Effective January 1, 2014 CPT code 92506 will be replaced by four new CPT codes related to evaluation of speech sound production, language, fluency, and voice and resonance disorders.
The American Medical Association’s Relative Value Update Committee (RUC) requested to replace 92506 (Evaluation of speech, language, voice, communication, and/or auditory processing). This change, Speech Language Pathologists will be able to bill speech, language, fluency, and voice evaluations more specifically.
92521: Evaluation of speech fluency (stuttering, cluttering)
92522: Evaluation of speech sound production (articulation, phonological process, apraxia, dysarthria)
92523: Evaluation of speech sound production (articulation, phonological process, apraxia, dysarthria); with evaluation of language comprehension and expression (receptive and expressive language)
92524: Behavioral and qualitative analysis of voice and resonance
Casamba (our software vendor) will retire CPT code 92506 effective January 1, 2014.
